The Plainview Chamber, City of Plainview, Pierce County Economic Development and a host of volunteers have planned a number of holiday events this season will be culminating with a Hometown Holidays event on December 12.

For those planning for the Christmas season, the Chamber has planned events for December 12 – Hometown Holidays for local businesses and events, a Holiday light parade at 6 p.m. with cash prizes, and a window decorating and planter decorating contest as well.

To sign up for the holiday light parade, contact Grant Dummer at the Plainview Telephone Company at 402-582-4242. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and travel east down Locust Street with judging and prizes. The event has been sponsored by Nyecom and West-Hodson Lumber.

The Window Decorating contest will be judged from Nov. 26 to December 25 – with a theme of Gingerbread this year. Prizes will be given for first-, second- and third-place and those wishing to participate or with questions should contact Susan Norris at 402-992-2535.

The Gingerbread theme will also be used for the “adopt a planter contest” where anyone can adopt a downtown planter to decorate. They will also be on display from Nov. 26 to December 25 with prizes for first-, second- and third-place. Those wishing to participate by decorating a planter should fill out a form at the City Offices and return to City Clerk Courtney Retzlaff.

The Chamber will also be sponsoring the Toys for Tots and Gifts for Manor Residents program again this year. Questions should be directed to Joan Alexander at 402-841-5108. More information about how to purchase gifts for others will follow later.
