Crofton Theatre Camp was held Friday, August 1st, at Crofton Elementary Gym. Thirty Crofton students attended, grades 9-12.
This year's guest clinician was Adam Peterson, Communication & Theatre Instructor with Northeast Community College.
Mr. Peterson has an MFA in Theatre Directing from East 15 Acting School in London. Additional graduate studies include terms at The Russian Institute of Theatre Arts in Moscow (GITIS) and The Indonesian Institute of Arts in Bali.
Peterson also attended the Broadway teacher’s workshop in NYC and workshops at the National Theatre and Globe Theatre in London. Professionally, Peterson teaches theatre and communications at Northeast for the last 15 years. Along with running the theatre department, he also teaches communications and global studies.
Peterson serves as the Devised Theatre coordinator for region 5 of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF). Peterson was the Artistic Director of the Norfolk Community Theatre for 10 years, has been an NSAA One Act Judge, and is a respondent for KCACTF.
In that last role, Peterson travels to various colleges and universities, watches performances, and gives feedback. He was given the 'Road Warrior' recognition by the festival last year for his work as a respondent. In his spare time, Adam can be found with his wife and kids, usually at ballgames or hiking in the woods
somewhere.
This year's Theatre Camp focused on workshopping team sessions, including putting on small group plays. Each student was asked to bring a staff as a prop for the play, "Where the Wild Things Are."
This year's Crofton Play Production Coaches are Holly Wortmann, Nancy Schieffer, & Shiann Hansen.
