Knox County youth compete in 4-H Food Review and Cookoff in Bloomfield

Knox County youth competed at the 4-H Food Review and Cook-Off Contests.

The event was held July 24th at the Knox County Fairgrounds with a total of 14 participants.

The cook-off event is designed so youth can test their skills in cooking a recipe to serve 6 people. They bring the entire recipe, menu, and a plate to serve a sample to the judge.

The food review event participants learn how to properly set a table, plan nutritious meals, express originality, and creativity in choosing a theme, and they express knowledge of food, nutrition, and food safety.

In the Cook-Off contest receiving Grand Champion for the Senior Division was Morgan Stevens of Crofton, the Intermediate Division, Ella Jessen of Bloomfield, and the Novice Division, Jocelyn Hanefeldt of Center.

Also participating in the Junior Division was Noel Kumm who received a purple.

In the Food Review contest receiving Grand Champion in the Senior Division was Lily Pfeil of Bloomfield, Intermediate Division was Ella Jessen, and the Novice Division was Jocelyn Hanefeldt.

Also competing in the Senior Division was Morgan Stevens who received a purple, the Junior Division was Emilee Babcock of Winnetoon and Kaydence Jansen of Crofton both receiving purples, Elise Mackeprang of Bloomfield received a blue.

In the Novice Division was Ainslee Jansen of Crofton received a purple, Elliot Doerr of Verdigre and Andie Mackeprang of Bloomfield received blues.

Participants in the Clover Kid Division were Cassie Claussen of Wausa, Lettie Doerr or Verdigre, and Kennadi Jansen or Crofton. The 4-H’ers were then able to share their tasty creations with all those who attended.
