The Crofton City Council will have a few positions to fill as two resignations were tendered during and after last week’s council meeting.

Mayor Bob Evans was first, with a resignation submitted to the City Clerk to be read during the Council meeting. Evans noted that he was resigning as he had moved out of the community, and was no longer eligible for a position on the City administration.

“It has been an honor to serve the citizens of Crofton,” said Evans in his letter. “and I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside the council and city staff.”

Following the meeting, the next morning, Council person Larry Pietz also submitted a resignation from the Council. In his letter he mentioned taking more time to deal with “focus on some family issues.”

Mayor Bob Evans and Council persons Larry Pietz and Jason Wavrunek are all up for election in this year’s general election.

Randy Ausdemore was elected as Council chairperson during the meeting, and will serve as Mayor until the Council positions can be filled, and then after the election the new Mayor will be seated, along with the new council persons.

Anyone interested in the positions should contact Donna Benac at the City of Crofton offices.
