Crofton Elementary

Construction began on the Crofton Elementary School project at the conclusion of the school year in May in hopes of the current elementary building completed by the beginning 2026-27 school year.

Everything from inside the school was taken out and put in storage containers for the time being while renovation is taking place.

However, renovation has been delayed due to the discovery of asbestos in the building.

During the demolition period after school was let out, asbestos was discovered underneath the carpet and in the ceiling of the elementary school.

This information was dispensed recently through a May 20 letter to district patrons, and plans around the abatement process were a major part of the Crofton Board of Education meeting held Monday, June 8 at 6:30 p.m.

According to school officials, the abatement process should take around 11 weeks to complete.
