The Crofton Senior Center held their annual plant sale this past Saturday, June 13 at the picnic shelter in the South City Park.

Known as “Walk in the Park Plant Sale” for the fifth year, It is an event that replaced the former Tea Parties that were once held.

Diane’s Greenhouse near Fordyce provided the plants for the Center as they have in years past. There were hundreds of plants at the sale, filling three pickups and a trailer, with perennials taking up the majority of the plant offerings. As a bonus, the weather for the day of the sale was perfect.

Pat Wakely, one of the volunteers at the Center, commented on the amount of work it takes to put on this event, “It takes a lot of lifting and loading to get them in all the pickups and wagons but the Center Board and a few friends help do this chore.”

Wakely thanked the Crofton community for their help and support. “We are always grateful for the community support we receive. Crofton people always show up to help us keep our Center going. The funds raised will be used in many different ways. Thank you Diane’s Greenhouse and to all the people who came to our plant sale.” she concluded.

The plant sale was one of the last fundraisers for the fiscal year for the Center. The exact amount made from the event was not divulged, but it was estimated to be around $1000.
