Cooper Grants awarded to Plainview groups
The Jim B. and Lillian F. Cooper Foundation, along with Midwest Bank, has announced the grants given this past year to very deserving organizations in local communities, including two to Plainview. In Plainview for 2020, Plainview High School received $1,500 towards a greenhouse for the FFA chapter; and the Plainview Manor received $1,200 for a slushy machine. Speech team finishes with an invite championship
The Plainview Speech team wrapped up the regular season with a team championship at the Laurel Concord Speech Invite on February 27. Reserve Pirates split games with Eagles, Dawgs
The Plainview Pirate junior varsity boys basketball team played in two games since last reporting-against O'Neill on Feb. 9 and against Creighton on Feb. 12-with the Pirates splitting a win and loss after a few quarters in each game. Young Lady Pirates compete in League, tourney
The Plainview Lady Pirate fourth grade girls took first place in the recently completed Wausa League. Competing in the league were teams from Plainview, Bloomfield, Wausa, Laurel, Hartington, and Niobrara-Verdigre. Speechsters take 6th at Gabfest
The Plainview Speech team earned sixth place out of 20 teams at the Wisner Pilger Gabfest held on February 20th. The tournament was varsity only, so the Pirate junior varsity speakers competed at the varsity level.
