Lady Trojans celebrating a win

The Wakefield Lady Trojans volleyball team took a 5-game series from the Plainview Lady Pirates when the teams faced off in Plainview last week on Aug. 24.
The Lady Trojans took the first set, 25-23; Plainview returned the favor in the second 25-22; Wakefield rebounded in the third, 25-20; fell in the fourth, 25-15, but were able to take the fifth set, 15-12 in the ultimate “back-to-back” game for the season opener – 3-2.
“There’s no better way to start your season than with a five set thriller in which you come out on top!,” said Lady Trojan coach Brittany Eisenmann. “Through each set our ladies were giving it their all. There were moments in the game that it just wasn’t going our way, we were making silly mistakes and communication errors, but the team fought through it and found a way to get our momentum back. The ladies really focused in on our task at hand going in the fifth set. Katie Borg made two huge plays that really gave us the push to get going. We pulled away and we able to finish with a big win over Plainview. For the first game of the season, I thought our girls played really well.”
