Vs. Howells-Dodge
The Wakefield Lady Trojans volleyball team hosted a contest with Howells-Dodge last Tuesday, Sept. 12, taking a 3-0 set game over the Jaguars.
The Wakefield girls took a long set, 29-27 in the first; and won the last two sets 25-19 and 25-19 to take the game over the visitors.
Daveigh Munter-McAfee put down 18 kills for her team, and was credited with two ace serves and five direct points. Alli Brown marked 14 kills, and had seven points. Gracyn Keagle had four kills, and Sierra Kaufman, Boston Brown and Jordan Metzler each had three.
Katie Borg posted the top number of digs for her team at 17. Jordan Metzler picked up 10, Munter-McAfee and Brown each had eight, Isabelle Andrade had seven and Kaufman and Brown were both credited with one.
Metzler also put up 38 assists to lead her team in that category.
Coming off a win over Howells-Dodge, the Wakefield Lady Trojans took their second win in a week against the Pender Pendragons in three sets.
With the win, the Lady Trojans are 11-5 on the season, and, according to MaxPreps are situated at fifth-place in their C2-5 District.
The Lady Trojans were scheduled for a Tuesday, Sept. 19 triangular contest against Walthill’s Bluejays (1-10) and Randolph’s Cardinals (1-10), and will play against Wynot on Sept. 21 on the local court before a week-long break until a game on Thursday, Sept. 21 against Laurel at home.
Daveigh Munter-McAfee led her team’s offense against Pender with 16 kills, four ace serves and seven direct points. Jordan Metzler was a close contender with 11 kills, 11 points and two aces as well. Boston Brown had three ace serves and another seven points, with four kills.
High scorer of direct points for the game was Katie Borg with 14 points and one ace serve.
Borg posted 19 digs for her team. Ashlyn Riewer had nine, Isabelle Andrade had seven, Daveigh Munter-McAfee had six, Jordan Metzler marked three, Sierra Kaufman had two and Gracyn Keagle had one.
