The Wakefield Lady Trojans wrestling team found success this past week at the Hartington Cedar Catholic Triangular on Tuesday, Jan. 23, the Plainview Invite on Friday, Jan. 26, and the Cedar Bluffs Invite on Saturday, Jan. 27.
At the Cedar Catholic Triangular, the Wakefield girls swept the competition, defeating both Hartington CC and Winnebago.
In Plainview on Friday, Jan. 26, the Lady Trojans put up a good fight against top competition in the northeast Nebraska area. After a tough day of competing, the Lady Trojans ended the day scoring 87.0 team points to land them in fifth place out of 16 teams competing. Seven of the Lady Trojans were able to take home medals, with seven wrestlers scoring points for the team.
At the Cedar Bluffs Girls Invite, the team put up a solid showing against tough competition mainly from schools in the Omaha and Lincoln areas. The squad put up 50.0 team points, enough to land them in 16th place out of the 25 teams competing with three of their six wrestlers earning medals in their respective weight class.
The girls will continue their season on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at the Lewis and Clark Conference Invite in Winnebago before entering the postseason by competing at Sub-Districts on Saturday, Feb. 3 at West Point-Beemer.
