The Wakefield Trojans took to the mats for the final time this regular season on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament and Saturday, Feb. 3 at their home invite.
At the L&C tournament on Tuesday, Jan. 3 in Winnebago, the Trojans faired well. At the end of a hard-fought day Wakefield found themselves in eighth place out of 14 teams with 91.0 team points scored. The Trojans had seven wrestlers earning medals on the day, all of which contributed to the team points total.
At their home invite on Saturday, Feb. 3, the Trojans showed some struggles. At the end of the day, Wakefield took home 11th place out of 16 teams competing, scoring a total of 31.0 team points with two wrestlers earning medals.
The Trojans now look ahead into the postseason, which begins on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the District Tournament in Albion at Boone Central High School. The wrestlers will compete to finish inside the top four in their weight class. Those who do will go on to compete at the NSAA State Wrestling Championships in Omaha from Thursday, Feb. 15 through Saturday, Feb. 17.
