The Wakefield 14 and under and 18 and under softball teams are playing a furious schedule on the way to the upcoming district tournaments.

In fact, the 14 and under team heads to O'Neill this weekend for a Class C District tournament.

The Wakefield 18U has been extremely busy, playing tournaments and double headers to get in some games before the season is over.

"We are very fortunate to be able to play games right near Wakefield," Wakefield coach Mike Mogus said. "We're feeling the team work to come together."

Wakefield split a doubleheader with Wausa, 10-4 then lost game two 14-6.

In the first game, Wakefield used a seven-run third inning to put some distance between the teams.

Brianna Bousquet scored along with Maddie Mogus, Kenzie Arenas, Destiny Helzer, Rachael Nuernberger, Natalee Overfelt and Madison Borg.

After Wausa battled back in the third and fourth to make it 8-4. the Wakefield 18 and unders sealed the game in the sixth with runs from Nuernberg and Laken Rahn.
