After opening the season with a loss to Pender, the Wakefield Lady Trojans sat back and took care of business to the tune of three straight wins.

The Lady Trojans had defeated Wayne 55-47, Randolph 61-21 and Stanton 60-51 before heading to Iowa to take on Westwood in Sloan, Iowa.

"We really shot poorly against Westwood," Wakefield coach Kent Emswiler said. Between the shooting and being outsized it was a long night."

 Wakefield lost the game 61-29.

"Westwood is an excellent team," Emswiler said. "We just couldn't slow down their two post players."

Wakefield scored 21 points in the opening half, but only scored eight in the final 16 minutes including only a basket in the final frame.

Aishah Valenzuela was the lone Lady Trojan in double figures with an even 10. Alex Arenas followed with seven while Jordan Metzler contributed six.

Traveling to Stanton, Wakefield took care of business and won its third game in a row by the 10-point margin.

"Jordan Metzler got the hot hand and scored 21 points," Emswiler said. "Everyone played hard and we came away with a great win."

Valenzuela added a dozen while Arenas and Destiny Helzer each tacked on eight.

The Lady Trojans were set to take on Hartington-Newcastle on December 21 before preparing for the Shootout on the Elkhorn at Wisner-Pilger High School December 28-29.
