Game at home tonight at 7:30p.m.

The Wakefield Trojan boys’ basketball team settled at a 14-3 record after wins over Omaha Nation, a loss to Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and a win over Hartington-Newcastle’s Wildcats all since last week’s report.
In the most recent game, the Trojans were up against Hartington-Newcastle’s Wildcats, pulling away with a 67-61 win over the opposition in an overtime win in the first round of the Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament.
The team was then scheduled to play against Winnebago this Thursday, Feb. 3 at Wakefield, prior to the championship game, which would be played on Monday, Feb. 7 against the winner of Wynot and L-C-C. If the Trojans fall to Winnebago, they’d play on Saturday, Feb. 5 at Cedar Catholic against the loser of Wynot vs. L-C-C.
Against the Wildcats, the Trojans came out on fire, putting up 21 points to the H-NC team’s 12. The Trojans then gave up nine points leading into the halftime break, but holding on to a tie, 30-30. In the third, the Wildcats took a one-point lead (14-13), and the teams swapped that score in the fourth, with the Trojans tying it up (14-13) at 57-all.
With one overtime quarter, the Trojans were able to sink 10 points and take a lead over the Wildcats’ four to take the win 67-61 at the final buzzer.

Vs. L-C-C Bears
The Trojans did suffer a loss on the road to the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears on Thursday, Jan. 27, 60-46 at the final whistle.
The teams were even in the first quarter, 10-10, and the Bears pulled ahead by six (21-15) by the halftime break, and the Trojans weren’t able to recover fast enough, gaining three in the third, but giving up 11 in the fourth to notch the loss.
No individual stats were uploaded for the game.

Vs. Omaha Nation
A 61-35 win over the visiting Omaha Nation sent the visitors packing with a loss under their record while the Trojans advanced to 13-2 on the regular season of play.
No box score was provided for the win at home.
