The Wakefield Lady Trojan volleyball team hosted the Plainview Lady Pirates in the team’s first game of the season, winning over the visitors in four sets, 3-1.
The Lady Trojans took the first set, 25-16, lost the second 16-25, but then won the third and fourth, 25-16, and 27-25 to seal the series and take the game.
For the Lady Trojan offense, Daveigh Munter-McAfee posted 15 kills and four spikes. Alli Brown and Alex Arenas both had five spikes, MaKenna Decker had four, Jordan Metzler had three and Brianna Martinez had two.
Jordan Metzler knocked over three aces with an 88.9 percent good serve percentage. Decker, Arenas and Isabella Andrade each posted better than 80 percent good serves.
Martinez, Brown and Areas were credited each with a block. Andrade had 23 digs, Arenas marked 22, Munter-McAfee had 17, Metzler had six and Brown, Ashlyn Riewer and Decker were each given two.
Jordyn Metzler handled the team’s assists with 32, Andrade and Munter-McAfee each had one.
The Lady Trojans were slated to play Battle Creek’s Bravettes on Tuesday, Aug. 30; will host West Point-Beemer on Thursday, Sept. 1; and will play Madison at home on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
