Wakefield’s Lady Trojans volleyball team started October continuing on a seven game winning streak.
They added wins over Hartinton-NewCastle, Crofton and Ponca since last reporting - 2-0 against the Wildcats at home, 3-0 against the Lady Warriors in Wakefield, and 3-2 over Ponca’s Lady Indians.
Tuesday, Oct. 4 the Lady Trojans traveled to Ponca to take a 3-2 series away from the home team, and advance their season record to 16-8.
The Hartington-NewCastle game fell in two sets for the Lady Trojans with a 26-24 fir set and a 25-15 second set.
Daveigh Munter-McAfee was credited with 12 kills during the game. Alex Arenas had six, Alli Brown had four, Brianna Martinez had three and Jordan Metzler had three.
Arenas had 10 digs, Munter-McAfee had seven, Brown had six, Katie Borg had nine and blocks went to Martinez, Brown and Arenas.
In the team’s game against Crofton, the Lady Trojans took the game to three sets - winning each - 25-18, 25-20 and 25-12.
Alex Arenas carded 13 kills, Daveigh Munter-McAfee had eight, Alli Brown had seven and MaKenna Decker, Laken Rahn and Jordan Metzler roudned out the team’s work.
Blocks were marked for Alex Arenas, and Digs were led by Arenas as well with 17. Katie Borg had 12, Jordan Metzler had nine, Munter-McAfee had eight, and Alli Brown had six.
Jordan Metzler handled most of the team’s sets with 27 on her card by the end of the three sets.
On Tuesday, Oct. 4 the team traveled to Ponca to take on the Lady Indians, winning 3 sets to 2.
The Wakefield team started out with a win, 25-22, then lost the second and third - 25-21 and 25-14, before rebounding in the fourth, 25-14 and pushing the game to the fifth tie breaker, winning, 15-9.
Arenas led the team with 26 marked kills on offense. Alli Brown had 12, Munter-McAfee had 11 and MaKenna Decker and Jordan Metzler each had four.
Arenas also led the team’s digs with 27, Munter McAfee had 22, Katie Borg had 26, MaKenna Decker had seven and Alli Brown posted five.
The Lady Trojans have four games left in the regular season - Creighton on Thursday, Oct. 6 on the road, TCNE at Emerson on Thursday, Oct. 13 and Homer and Winnebago the following week.
