The Plainview Pirates track and field team qualified multiple athletes for the 2025 NSAA State Track and Field Championships at the Class D District 4 Invite in Plainview on Wednesday, May 14.

At the district invite, the Pirates competed against athletes from nine other area Class D schools.

Against tough competition from North Central, St. Mary’s Bloomfield, and more, the Pirates managed to come out of the battle with their head held high, as the Lady Pirates placed second as a team and the boys finished in third.

Leading the way for the district runner-up Lady Pirates was Avery Hardisty and Emma Sauser, who each qualified for state in three of their four events and accumulated a large number of points to help propel the Pirates to a runner-up finish as a team.

The duo of Sauser and Hardisty were the only Lady Pirates who were able to qualify for the state championships and see their season continue. On the boy’s side, it was Rece Frahm who paved the way for the Pirates, as he also qualified for state in three of his four events.
