The newest class of the Plainview Public Schools’ Hall of Fame was inducted during last weekend’s All-Class Reunion events in the Pirate Auditorium on Saturday, June 7.
Dr. Darron Arlt emceed the Hall portion of the gathering, and introduced the five new individual inductees and the State Champion 2005 Plainview Pirate Football Team.
The 2005 football team will be recognized at a Pirate football game later in the fall, but their induction paragraphs read:
“It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. That cliche speaks to the seniors on the 2005 Pirate football team who won just 3 games their first two seasons only to finish with 19 wins their last two seasons. It’s also fitting to describe the 2005 team who dropped their first game of the season before Coach Joe Anderson led them to 11 wins in their final 12 games including a 15 point win in the state title game at UNL’s Memorial Stadium. Ten players on the 2005 team earned postseason honors making this one of the most decorated teams in the proud history of Plainview Pirate Football.”
Individual award winners were Dr. Lyle Joyce, Class of 1965; Blake Mosel, Class of 2005; Jamieson Alexander, Class of 2004; Jennifer Hoffman, Class of 2004; and Chad Schumacher, Class of 1982.
Coach Schumacher will be honored at a wrestling event in the future.
